
Sheltering beneath Portland’s Jurassic coast, The Aqua (previously The Hotel Aqua) looks east across the whole of Portland Harbour – a feat of Victorian engineering built out of Portland stone to form a strong naval base of defence against France, although today it is by far more famous for being the location of the sailing events of the 2012 games.
